It was like watching a car crash, it was crazy to read but I just couldn’t stop. When I read the scene about their ancestors being entombed to be made like statues, where the stench of death permeated the air, my skin crawled and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. Queen Laiha’s land is by far the most eerie. Weber dives deeper into the world she’s created, and we get more of a glimpse of other lands. While I’m on the topic of our royals, the Queen of Cashlin, Queen Laiha, is a powerful Luminescent, a woman who’s seer’s sight is formidable. Each potential royal kill will give him powers he seeks. He’s by far one of the most nuanced villains I’ve read recently. He comes very far in his quest to obtain it, and it’s astonishing how greedy and brutal he can be. By killing all 5 of the royal bloodlines, he hopes to achieve immortality. Nym is struggling to bring about the end to a man named Draewulf, who’s more beast than man. However, as a reader, her emotions always felt right and reasonable on account of her past. It doesn’t help that her elemental power of controlling lightning is vastly affected by her emotions. She’s rash, indecisive, and overly emotional.
Nym is a character that is deeply flawed. This time, will the Siren’s Song have the power to save it? But even if she can, will she be able to uncover the secret to defeating Draewulf that has eluded her people for generations? I drop my arms and let the energy die off. It’s why I couldn’t defeat Draewulf in Bron-because this power was never mine anyway. “The realization hits: We’re not going to win. Obviously, this review will cater to book 3, Siren’s Song. However, I will give a general impression of how I feel overall about the trilogy.
It’s not fresh, so I won’t give a cheap review with my scattered thoughts about them. And while I would love to give you amazing recaps and thoughts of those two books, sadly it has been awhile since I’ve read them. Once again I’m reviewing the last book of a trilogy, because I sadly had stop blogging when I read the first book in The Storm Siren trilogy, Storm Siren, and book two, Siren’s Fury.
